(I have bought Egypt 1156 BC and Ring on DVD as well, but haven't tried to install them yet.) The installation process seems to run OK, but then in the end I get this error message: ISDX_ERR_BADMINDOWSVERSION Entry not found in the string table. I run windows XP Professional - guess that is the problem? Is there a patch somewhere I can use before installation? With old games on CD-rom I choose the 95 or 98 compatibility-mode, but that is not an option, when the game can't be installed. I have been looking for those "old" games for a long time but couldn't get them in Denmark, so when I found them in several languages on DVD in Amazon Germany I was really happy. Subj: The Sims Date: Wednesday, October 23, 2002 From: Kris hi...i am in need of help!!! i have recently installed the sims and all exps...but it crashed on me the other day, and now all my houses are crashing me to the dsktp when i click on them... the strange part is the pics when you hold the mouse over the house...instead of my sims head, there is an upside down clown head! i have added no 3rd party skins, apps or objects...i am at a total loss...i have been in contact with ea techs, but they just tell me to uninstall and reinstall...this does jack!!! i have attached a screenshot of the pics... thanks for your time...kris * Our first idea is the same - reinstall the game. After you uninstall make sure to go in an remove the directory too. This will make sure to delete all saved games, which may be the problem. Also how much memory do you have? I have seen low memory cause some strange problems, make sure no other programs are running at the same time as the game. Last, and I hate to mention this, but viruses are know for messing up graphics files. Does anyone else out there have any ideas. - gamebeacon |
